J. Jared Janas, Designer/Owner

Jared started designing wigs, hair and makeup for the theater in 1994. He formed Backstage Artistry in 2005 with his former business partner, Rob Greene. Now with over 25 years in the wig, hair, and makeup industry, his skill set includes designing, building, dressing, and maintaining wigs and facial hair for all media, designing makeup (2D and 3D) and temporary tattoos for all media, and creating hair designs for all occasions.  His work has been seen in theater, television, and film. He is a proud member of I.A.T.S.E. Local 798 (Makeup Artists & Hairstylists).

In 2017, Jared was nominated for a Drama Desk Award for his wig design of the Mint Theatre’s production of Yours Unfaithfully.
